AM DESIGN: resort design draws strength from nature

Now everyone wants to experience the local life when they go out on vacation, so the best reference for hotel design is the local folk culture. Big cities are always full of high-rise buildings, and people are more eager to get close to nature. The space design of Resort Hotel draws strength from nature, and the internal and external space follow the design of local concept as a whole, so that tourists can be immersive and integrate into local life.

Only by drawing strength from nature can sustainable practice have a solid foundation. In the age of mankind, nature retreats behind the scenes. In the era of sustainability, nature moves to the front stage.

The resort is located along the Pacific Ocean and at the border of La Barra de colotepec, Oaxaca, Mexico. At the junction of forest and ocean, it hopes to bring tourists back to the true beauty of nature.

Ten vaults facing the Pacific Ocean present a spectacular sunset in earth tones, two to three times higher than the ground, helping to promote natural air circulation.

A water Gallery connects the three volume building, which guides visitors to the full moon swimming pool with Turquoise like water. The interweaving of concrete and wooden beams forms vault units with different heights, which allows people to feel different atmosphere and generate different levels of meditation from the audio-visual experience brought by site temperature, sun track and waves.

The interior and exterior spaces are designed according to the local concept as a whole. The indoor environment consists of local handmade products, such as carpets, textiles, hammocks, chairs and curtains, palm lamps and so on.

Each arch is fitted with a custom wooden door with small shutters to protect privacy and not completely block the scenery. At the same time, the circulation of air provides a comfortable temperature experience for 11 rooms. Fixed furniture such as sink and bathtub are integrated with the building, as if carved from the original stone.

Food plays a key role in reflecting social responsibility. Based on the principle of "from farm to table", these ingredients come from the orchards of local producers. They respect the seasonality of fruits and collect them in a non intensive cycle, which not only ensures the freshness of ingredients, but also contributes to the development of local economy.
